Design, Cost & Planning
Electricity prices are not going back down and every unit you buy from the grid costs more than one you make yourself. We install solar PV systems for Dublin homeowners as SEAI registered contractors, with the grant application handled for you.

Solar PV panels turn daylight into electricity you can use in the house straight away, store in a battery for the evening, or export to the grid for a payment.
In Dublin conditions a typical ten panel system generates around 3,900 kWh a year, which covers most of what an average three bed home uses.
We size the system to your consumption rather than to a standard package. Roof orientation, shading, how much electricity you use during the day, and whether a battery earns its keep.

BuildTech follows a clear four-step pathway, from initial feasibility through to completed construction, designed to protect your budget and keep your project on track.
We install the complete system. Panels and mounting, inverter, wiring, battery storage where it makes sense, the grid connection application, and full commissioning. You deal with one contractor from survey to switch on.
All electrical work is carried out by qualified electricians and the finished system is registered with the grid operator so you can be paid for what you export. Monitoring is included so you can see what you are generating and using.
The solar electricity grant is worth up to €1,800 in 2026, unchanged from 2025. Here is what the common system sizes deliver on a Dublin roof.
You get €700 per kWp for the first 2 kWp and €200 per kWp after that, up to 4 kWp. Anything above 4 kWp attracts no additional grant, so ten panels is the size that maximises it.
Panels, inverter, wiring, mounting and the labour to install them. Battery storage and hot water diverters are not grant aided, though they do attract 0% VAT when installed under the same contract as the panels.
Your home needs an MPRN and must have been built and occupied before 1 January 2021. The grant can only be claimed once per property, ever. Newer homes are not eligible because they are already built to near zero energy standards
Grant approval must be in place before installation begins. Work that starts early cannot be grant aided, with no exceptions. Once the offer is issued you have eight months to complete the installation.
A post works BER assessment is required before the grant is paid. We submit the Declaration of Works and supporting paperwork, and the grant is paid to you once SEAI accepts it.
Two identical systems on two Dublin roofs can produce very different returns. These are the four factors that matter most, and all four are settled at survey stage.
South facing gives the best annual yield. East and west facing roofs still work and can suit households that use most of their electricity in the morning or evening. North facing rarely stacks up.
A chimney, a dormer or a neighbouring tree across part of the array pulls down output for the whole string unless the system is designed around it. We survey for shading before we size anything.
Electricity you use yourself is worth far more than electricity you export. A household that is out all day gets less from the same system than one that is home, unless a battery or a hot water diverter shifts that usage.
Without a battery you use around 40 per cent of what you generate and export the rest at a lower rate. With one, self consumption typically rises to 75 to 85 per cent. A battery is not grant aided and adds real cost, so it only pays back for the right consumption pattern. We tell you honestly whether yours justifies one.
For most Dublin homes the answer is no. Rooftop solar on houses is Exempted Development under the Planning and Development Regulations, and the rules were significantly relaxed in October 2022.
Here is what changed and what still applies.
We survey your roof, size the system to your usage, handle the SEAI grant and register the grid connection. A ten panel system generates around 3,900 kWh a year in Dublin and qualifies for the full €1,800 grant.
